Show-Offs

The pups are back to their daily schedule here at our house and apparently, they learned a few new tricks while we were gone. If you close the door to the crate, you gain more access to the food bowl and Peanut has the skill mastered. This is something I would expect to see from Gator, who is a full month older. At 9 weeks old, Ginny’s puppies have shown us that they are very smart and advanced for their age. I do truly believe that Gator and his antics have rubbed off. Since we are trying to keep up with his conformation training, keeping him in the puppy pen while we still have little ones under foot has paid off in more ways than...

Hotel KZ Perks

Our Hotel KZ guests are back home and our happy campers are cuddling with our spoiled spa princesses. Why you may ask that I described the girls that stayed at Karen’s this way?Because of THIS! Karen said Blue sat patiently for an entire pedicure. That included clipping and filing of the nails and then a coat or two of hot pink polish! How adorable is that?!?!? And while Blue shows off her purty paws off to everyone, I get to wash loads of camping as well as puppy litter laundry. It’s a good thing I don’t get pampered like that – my nails couldn’t withstand the work I have ahead of...

Transition Complete

The plan has worked perfectly! Transitioning Rane into a new home this past weekend had a few minor bumps but nothing that stopped our plans. She was leery of the men in their family at first. This is exactly how she reacted when we brought her here back in February. That took us the longest but once she began to seek out my husband’s lap and cuddled with him, we knew with time and more confidence, the transition to a pet home could happen. With all of the success this weekend, I really thought once she got home with them, it would take a week or so for her to open up to all of her new forever family members. On the drive home from the campground I received a text...

Final Campfire of the Trip

The two shadows (Dude and Dewey) begged to be out with us humans tonight as we all gathered for our final campfire of the trip. Dude’s love of the doggie pillow inspired us to place it beside the fire for him to lay on, while Dewey still insisted on being in my lap. The rest of the dogs lay peacefully in the camper, staying warm by the heat of the furnace instead of the heat from the fire. We are all sad to see this very relaxing and fun trip come to an end but with the looming cold front and rain showers expected to arrive tomorrow, we want to get an early start to our trek back home. Tonight is also Rane’s first night sleeping with her new forever...

The Transition

We started transitioning Rane by having her spend the afternoon with her new forever family today. She was a bit already at first while walking with them on her leash but once I picked her so so they could hold her, she relaxed and enjoyed herself. The plan is to have her back in our camper for tonight but then back with them for the entire day tomorrow, and hopefully the entire night too! So far so...
