Such A Sweet Boy

In just a matter of days, Gator has proven to all that he is exactly where he needs to be. He has bonded with all of the humans, and the cat, it was Einstein that we all knew would take the longest. Tonight, it became official! While laying on the couch, after a very long day, Einsten was having a hard time. He was exhausted! They covered him with a blanket to rest up from the day’s adventures. Such adventures are exhausting to a 15 year old dog! Clearly, Gator was intuned to his canine housemate. The two have passed at the water bowl since Gator’s arrival, including a warning snarl from the cranky only man. But tonight, he realized that Gator is one cool...

Getting My Stack On

With us stepping into the show ring and our excitement about Quik’s potential, my father-in-law saw a stacking training table Karen made with some large wooden spools and a craft tray during his last visit. Being a master woodworker, inquiring minds had to know more. After a brief explanation of what we were looking to do, he said he would work on creating something for us in his workshop. Tonight, the UPS man left THIS amazing creation on my front porch. It is beyond perfect and beyond thankful! And you can bet it will be getting a lot of use over the next few months. I will be sure to document the success this stacking tool brings to our...

Gator’s New Forever Mommy

I have shared how Gator’s grandma fell head over heels for him and after the confirmation of my concerns with his structure, her dream of making him hers was fulfilled. The moment I told her that he could go home with her, I could actually hear her heart skip a beat over the phone. Today was the day and the welcoming committee was there to greet him. Of course, his new forever family humans were tickled pink but the feline and canine members were the ones we were most excited about introducing to him. They could make or break the plan! Skittles the cat immediately wanted to play. Gator was taken aback at first but soon realized, she was a friend, not a foe. Now...

Hitchhicker Horrors

It’s that time of year again and Quikster has learned the joys and pitfalls of play-sessions in our backyard when we haven’t put down the weed killer. Those green little hitchhikers attach to every part of their bodies that are covered with fur. Usually after any of the dogs come in during hitchhiker season, we spend 20 minutes picking them off. Today, Quik ran in and immediately started to try to rub them off of himself by dragging his body across the dog bed. When I called his name and he looked up at me with his adorable eyes and half cocked head, I let out a huge chuckle and of course, grabbed my camera. This photo captured only have of the little...

Anxiety Doesn’t Fully Explain It

For the last year now, we have been under the assumption that Dewey’s anorexic frame was a possible liver shunt. Because Doc was unable to get complete results when he did the blood work to test for it. Blood drawn on and empty stomach and then again after he had eaten was the plan. His anxiety kept him for eating away from home, leaving us with incomplete results that did point into the direction of a liver shut. But his skinny look was the only symptom that he showed. We always had extreme anxiety as the more logical answer. But the fear of putting him under intravenously has been high, either way. Knowing a liver shunt was the key player, Dewey only has a 70% of...
