A Forever Family for Frisco

A Forever Family for Frisco

Montana and Kim have been wanting to add a little one to their family and originally we spoke about a younger puppy. When families contact me about bringing home one of our pups, my main goal is to match temperament with lifestyle. As much as a photo is a nice way to SEE what a puppy looks like, my blog is a often times a better way to really read what the pup is like – appearance aside. These two obviously see the importance of the day-to-day ramblings I add and switched gears, asking me for more information on our sweet Frisco – The special boy who would take a day or so to ever show the real him to a stranger – He would also take a family who had...

Some Much Going On Here!

Some Much Going On Here!

Perhaps with all of the rain we got over the weekend has give our dogs cabin fever – Or perhaps all of the puppy/hormonal drama has made them look at each other in different ways but man oh man, the Chihuahuas in our house have been running around non-stop today! This photo kinda-sorta captured what I witnessed but it will definitely need some further details…. Rane seems to have woken this morning realizing she really is NOT a mommy. Her puppy is gone, Colada’s puppies teeth hurt on her nippies and are NOT her responsibility. The Burrito has been out of sight and clearly, now, out of mind. She has reverted to a pup herself and is now a constant play...

Like Father Like Son

Like Father Like Son

In at least one way that is! When you look at Frisco, he clearly takes after his mommy in the looks department – Except for that bite! That’s a first one for us! As a breeder, it’s fun to watch the traits that are passed down to our puppies, even the quirky ones. Buddy has this habit of taking a single piece of dog food and patting it around on the floor. YES! He plays with is food. Since both Ace and Rane are his puppies, it didn’t surprise us when they started doing the same thing. (I guarantee many of our forever families that have Buddy puppies that are reading this post are saying, “Our dog does that too!!!” Read on, because...

Photo Shoot Time

I haven’t done a photo shoot of Frisco and Diva for quite a while and since we have had a lot of inquiries on them recently, I thought it best to share more current formal photos. The blog has shown their growth and progress in a more informal way. Here they are in all of there formal splendor. I even added their photos to the pages with their current weights!

Learned It From The Best!

Blue is – Hands Down – Our most addicted to peeking outside dog. I have many a photo of her in our back patio, gazing out into the yard. She jumps up onto the table to get to the ledge or lays on the back of a chair and would prefer to stay there for hours. Sniffing for squirrels or anything else she can catch in the wind. It appears as though Frisco has learned the skill from his mom and he turned around and taught Diva! These two have mastered jumping up onto our patio furniture and using it has a stair system to get to the ledge to peek out. Today it was to watch my kids outside playing. They wanted out back so bad! Tails a wagging, they begged with all...

They’re SO Good!

They’re SO Good!

Frisco and Diva have done so fantastic with their crate training, I just had to take a moment to brag. They spend a lot of time out and about in the house, playing with our dogs, but we have not brought them upstairs to go to bed at night, realizing their new forever families may not wish to allow them in their own beds. (I know, it’s a major dog training no-no but we can’t help but spoil our Chis!!!!) Anywho, at night, we put the pups in the playpen with the dog crate door open, still giving them access to their food and pee-pad. Diva is just so tiny! I feel better knowing she still has access to food during the night. They have gotten used to this schedule...

15 Week Observations

15 Week Observations

Our two remaining puppies are in the tweenage stage and with them being here until the age of 15 weeks, I have had an opportunity to really watch and assess their growth and maturity.  It has been a wonderful gift as a breeder, giving me a chance to see how they develop past the 12 week mark. This is what I always refer to as “the puppy uglies”. Frisco has grown bigger than we originally anticipated, making him the perfect family pet. I estimate his adult weight to be closer to the 6lb mark. He is sturdy and very square – A stop to die for! He so looks like his mommy Blue, but his slight under bite has now given him character – His own unique...

Puppy Yelps!

Puppy Yelps!

With the hustle and bustle of family life during the weekends, nap time for the puppies comes in much shorter sessions. They are tweenagers in the human sense and they want out! They want to play! They want to be with us peeps! So the sounds emitted from our home on Saturdays and Sundays are in fact a mixture of laughin’ kids, rockin’ music and yelpin’ puppies!

Frisco Jumped Right In

Frisco Jumped Right In

Into our daily kitchen play sessions that is. Prior to reaching 8 weeks of age, the puppies hadn’t really ventured into the kitchen, let alone out onto the back deck or patio. Since he has been back with us, the outside adventures have become his favorite. That and wrestling on the doggy beds in the kitchen. When his playmates Nolie and Tiffy were here, I truly believe they helped break him in and show him the way. Now, there is nothing – or no one – stopping...
