That Was Easy
Fitting in when it comes to feeding time can sometimes be a bit of an issue. Baby is a food hog and will easily scare any dog that is new to the pack (and some that have been here as long as she has!) And it has taken many of our Chihuahuas a bit of time to grasp the “individual bowl” concept, especially since we went that way from free feeding. We mixed individual bowls with scheduled feedings. The schedule part went was easy breezy but keeping to one’s bowl took about a month. My husband has had a rather odd work schedule lately and the chance to catch up with the news in the comforts of his fluffy couch have been rare. Bringing his plate of dinner to the couch has become rather common with these changes and the dogs have taken a liking to it, that is for sure. Unfortunately, Nirvana may have picked up a less than polite habit from this. He jumps right onto the back of the couch cushion and then right up onto my husband’s shoulder to BEG for a taste. As with all of our nursing mommies, Chica gets a mixture of soft puppy food, dry puppy and some extra vitamins to help her remain as happy and healthy as possible. I happened to place her bowl on the floor in the kitchen while the other girls were running outside after their standard dry food dinner. With all of our puppies in their new forever homes and the girls out of their heats, we are all back to normal around here. Basically, no real news and all is good. And now that we are back to our regular schedule, we can do our scheduled feedings with the whole crew again. That I must say is REALLY nice! And with the whole group together, it is hard to miss our three amigos and their antics. Dewey, Ace and Mimi are the three slow pokes and the only ones that share their bowls of food.
