So, Breezy has a very weird habit – She loves to chew the squeakers out of toys! We have had a basket filled with dog toys that have never been touched for several years, that was until Breezy entered our lives. She has successfully gutted anything with a squeaker. Now she has figured out that the tiny puppy toys still have squeakers in them and also that I wash them every single day.

This is how I found her this afternoon. Searching the dryer for the latest batch that was being laundered. And there was Tino watching out for me. I also think Tino was waiting for Breezy to drop the loot! Either way the picture captured their relationship perfectly!

She discovered the basket two days ago and started pulling single toys out to play with on her bed. At night before I turn in for bed, I rather up her toys and put them back in the basket. Today she decide to use her newly found confidence (she really has adjusted very well and likes her new pack!!!)  and dumped the entire basket out to get a better view at her toy options. She pulled out toys that haven’t seen the light of day since 2007! You go girl!

The final chewed off bulb was thrown away about 11 months ago so our young ones had yet to experience the true joy of this toy but I have to share this very interesting observation…

The dog born on Christmas last year, too young to previously experience this magic toy, was the first to claim it this year and the first to chew off the first bulb. Crazy cool right? And so the fun begins all over again!

When we worked on our flooring project, I placed the basket on top of the other log holder (an iron one) to make more room on the hearth. The basket of toys was the last thing on my mind when we put the room back together but it did confuzzle me to be back to picking up toys Saturday night since the basket was so high up off the ground. Was it Smoochie? And if so, how was she reaching them? That sneaky little minx!

Apparently, she would only do it when she thought we weren’t watching. And it was when I just so happen to walk into the room to get to the laundry room that I saw her slink away from the fireplace like a fox.  I then had to hide in the laundry rom to be able to watch her do her thing. IT all starts by her looking around to see if anyone can see her. YES! She is actually looking around and stops the moment a human approaches or os watching her!  She then bites down on a tip of a toy and slowly pulls it from the basket into the hearth. From there, still in her stealth-mode, she drags the toy to the nearest dog bed. Some she has even pushed into the creases.

You have no idea how difficult it was to get a photo of her in action. I am talking several attempts spanning over several hours today. The above is the best I got! She’s Amazing! Forget Cat-Burglar – she’s a CHI-Burglar!

As she digs them out and spreads them all over the living room floor, the Chihuahuas act like little snobs, only partaking play with the newest of the toys. Now I understand why we have such a large collection that just sits in the toy basket – We need more Margs to enjoy the pile!!!

It’s a large knotted, rope bone with plastic chews in the shape of light bulbs. Cute to look at but easy to dismember. Even our little Chihuahua’s teeth can get the bulbs chewed off in a matter of 12 hours. From that point, the bulbs become separate toy toys and the rope turns into the latest tug-o-war obsession. Those bulbs get toted around by all of our Chihuahuas, eventually being chewed to shreds by the end of the year. It’s a good thing there are three on each rope bone aye?

Anywho, the puppies have discovered just how awesome his holiday toy is, taking it over and claiming it. Watching a puppy that weighs just over a pound carry a plastic Christmas bulb that is bigger than their own head, is nothing less than entertaining!
