Another day in Lady Lake – Another set of vaccines for our tweenagers – Another eval day on the progress of said tweenagers and another passenger in the backseat on the ride home. Now, here are the deets! We had an appointment set up for Maui and Quik to get their rabies vaccines today. Since the drive is so long, we also scheduled another visit with Sandy at Serenity’s Chihuahuas. As the perfect mentor to help me get into the show ring, another check on the growth of Quik was planned. Until a pup reaches 8 months old – at a minimum – they go through a lot of changes. Since Quik is my first bred-by proposition, watching and evaluating his...
Read MoreDid I stick that tunage in your head? If so, then you can sing along with me every time we head out to the vet’s. We made the trip today and as always, it turned into an all day event. We took Colada’s two puppies in for their 8 week vaccines and health certificates. They napped the entire drive there, were absolutely wonderful at Dr. Atreaga’s office (being given a perfect bill of health of course) and napped all the way back. Not a single potty accident, whine, vaccine reaction or carsick belly gurgle. They actually emptied their bladders the second I put them on the pee-pad after we got home. I so love when our trips out to Lady Lake are...
Read MoreBuddy and Baby have been napping on my lap for hours. Why you ask? Because today was the day for them to altered – Yes! In addition to puppy vaccines being secheuded today, we had a spay and neuter on the books. Since our drive out to see Dr. Mario is a long one, we try to take advantage of the trip by adding extra elements into our normal appointments. It’s time for the puppies to receive their next set of puppy vaccines and checkups. Since we have been trying to squeeze Baby’s spay into the mix for over a year, I nailed it down for this trip. Since she will be out for the count, I asked that we have her teeth cleaned too – ALL something Baby...
Read MoreWe headed out to see Dr. Mario today, battling another nasty Florida thunderstorm causing a longer than normal drive both there and back. All six of the puppies did FABO on their first road trip, with only one potty accident and no cases of car sickness. If I would have video taped Twist empty his badder after the long trip, it would have been longer than the pee- scene by Austin Powers! And after they relieved themselves, they all cuddled up in the same dog bed and rested. Way too much excitement for one day! Doc gave them all a perfect bill of health and they all did awesome with their vaccines. No reactions, just a squeal from a couple of them from the prick of...
Read MoreWhile the girls were out on one of their play sessions in the backyard this afternoon, Colada came back in the house with a swollen lip! Chihuahuas love to dig in the dirt to get to dead lizards and any found kitty poops. They also are often fascinated with moving bugs, many times using them as a toy! I think a combination of the both resulted in Colada getting bit by something. She was such a sweet girl while we tended to her boo-boo and patiently dealt with the uncomfortableness of the swelling. (It couldn’t have been that bad – She chowed no problem on a piece of the kid’s lunch that fell on the floor) Now here is your head’s up on allergic...
