Ringin In The New Year

It’s a quiet night at the figgy house as we ring in the year 2018. It’s been amazing year of accomplishments personally as well as professionally but I’m excited to see what the new year brings.

The dogs on the other hand? They’re not too sure of this cold weather that’s for sure! So while we humans sip away on the champagne to celebrate, they cuddle up in blankets completely unaware of the fact that it is time to celebrate. It’s all good! As long as they’re happy and warm! And clearly they are!

Cuddle Balls

Back when I bought these organizers to use as dog beds never did I realize they would bring such adorable entertainment to me and my family. I don’t know what it is about them but our Chihuahuas have the tendency to cram into them as many as possible to create cuddle balls of fluff. Today’s entertainment was provided by Ginny along with her son Dewey daughter KC and granddaughter Olive!

She Really Has Learned A Lot

Holy Guacamole! Alexis really has learned a lot since the last time that she groomed Ginny! She needed guidance and help in trimming her but this time, it was only a couple of pointers and voila! A beautiful trimmed Ginny! Kristie helped her with the tail and a bit around the ears. I was rather impressed with how level she held the trimmer, creating a very smooth cut. From bath to dry to groom BEAUTIFUL JOB ALEXIS!!!

Perfect Subject

Alexis brought Ginny to work with her yesterday so that she could get some one-on-one lessons on how to trim down a dog. She has been using the skills she learned two years ago to trim Ginny but come to find out, the lessons she previously received were not as ideal as they could have been. Like, that she needs to use a guide for a more consistent and safer cut! Oh what a huge difference! And to hear Alexis’ excitement on the newly learned techniques was invigorating. A true sense of accomplishment and pride. Looks like Ginny will be going in for a trim every 4 weeks or so and clearly, Ginny loves the adventure too. That’s a win-win on my book!

Bather Brusher

So we have started Alexis on a DVD Grooming course to help kick start her goal of being a pet groomer (along with a handler of course). We started with the Super Styling Sessions “Bather/Brusher” DVD and it was the perfect choice. Close to two hours were spent with Alexis adorably taking notes on every tip they shared.

Today she decided to apply those tips as she bathed all of our pets. Ear cleanings, facials with blueberry scrub, nail trims and shampoos and conditioning with Isle of Dogs’ Sit (Still) and 2 Heal. They are so squeaky clean and purty smelling now. Can’t wait for the next lesson!

Too Sweet To Not Take Note

While passing through the kitchen to get me a coffee refill I couldn’t help but stop and some at what I saw. Teddy was dog a doggy bed kinda guy when he lived here. Clearly that has changed since going to is new forever family. Napping in a bed wasn’t what made me pause. It was that he was laying with Ginny and KC.

You see, they make up our most precious family to date! Ginny and Teddy’s litter produced my first show puppy, KC. It was Ginny’s last litter and Teddy’s first for us. So to see all three of them laying together, it pulled at my heart strings and then made my heart smile.

Deck Time

With less running in the yard now the dogs have a lot of time on the deck for their frolicking and fresh air. Ginny is not a real “active” girl – she is more of a waddler. When she is not waddling around she is napping. Today I found her up on the deck chair resting away with Dewey. When she is napping, she usually has one of her kids with her. Normally it’s KC or Dewey. Today she clearly suckered her son to jump up and chill. Classic!

Time For A Ginny Buzz

It’s that time again! Time for Ginny to get the uber short puppy cut. Alexis got out her grooming supplies and went to town like the little expert that she is. Not just the cut, there was the nail, the ears, sanitary trim and pads too! With all of that, you have to know our sweet Ginny is happy as ever now.

Love Of A Mother

I have shared the amazing relationship between mom and daughter, Ginny and KC, and how we could never separate these two from each there ever again. Their love for each other is so strong and equally as adorable to watch. KC will always be Ginny’s baby and KC knows it! Today I was ablate grab the camera and capture it!

KC will scooch herself up to Ginny as close as she can get and submissively lay there to be cleaned and groomed. KC seeks out her mom to cuddle up with throughout the day and sleeps beside her in bed at night. Barbie is Ginny’s daughter as well, but they don’t have the relationship these two have by any means. They are so precious to watch and now I finally have their relationship captured in photos!

A Summer Cut

It’s no joke – Today was Summer Cut Day!

Remember when you were a kid and the boys (and sometimes girls) got a summer hair cut? I know my brother anticipated the day every year – The day he would get his buzz cut! Well today we gave Ginny her summer cut with Alexis’ coveted bday gift – the Wahl ARCO SE Cordless Trimmer in funky cool teal.

As much as she loved using the Andis AGC Super 2-Speed during her grooming lessons, I was told that the cordless ones are easier on the arm, back and wrist – and of course, you don’t have to battle the cord! So, we went the cordless route for her first official trimmer and I have say, she LOVED it!

Without the help of an instructor and going from her memory, I have to say, she did an AMAZING job! It was her tad-worried mom that made her use the guides (more than one person told her they will only get in the way and they were right) When I watched her pull out the scissors and trim around the ears and feet, I was like, “Well there ya go!” Maybe I need to go put the Andis 2-speed back in my Amazon cart because I see her mastering this cordless one by the end of summer!
