I fully intended for KC to live out every single day of her life on my couch! This is Tino’s mother! This is my very first Teddy daughter that changed my program forever! She is the sweetest, kindest and gentlest Chihuahua I have ever met let alone produced! She has loved the back of my couch since the day she was retired and I honestly thought that we would see her there for 10+ more years. That was until I had a conversation with Jen at a dogs show about her grandparents….

Jen’s grandparents had a poodle that they had unit the tender age of like 14!!! Unfortunately those 14 years were not all that pleasant. The poodle was a biter snd less than happy girl. All her grandmother wanted was a dog to sit on her lap ad let her be brushed. Simple request right? Yeah, not so simple when the poodle wanted nothing to do with being on someone’s lap let alone being brushed.

As a resident Chihuahua breeder, of course I was asked if I personally had a little one that was looking for a laugh a lap. Jen is close fiends with Renee and I was this first person with little dogs she could think of to ask. I didn’t have anyone I was actively looking to place. But then KC came to mind. Show would be perfect! Exactly what she described as needing. A total lap lover who could be brushed for hours in pure joy.

Sometimes our own wants need to be put aside for what’s best for our four-legged loved ones. KC would thrive as the only dog in a home where she could get all of the attention and love possible. My heart knew this was the right decision. So I drove over to the coast to bring her to her new forever lap loving family.

The bond was INSTANT! Not just for Jen and her mom but for Jen’s grandparents who fell instantly and fell hard! I am soooooo happy for everyone – mostly KC because he deserves every once of love she is getting She is a special girl that changed my life forever. And now she has changed theirs!!

As usual with males, they recover quickly and that was the case with Georgie. He was up and running around within hours of being home.

KC on the other hand is taking a bit longer – as she should! Her incision is much bigger and the surgery is much more invasive!

She was back her perky self this morning and sweet Georgie hasn’t left her side!

They both did very well in their surgeries as well as the drive home. A lot of sleeping and resting is on the agenda for the next couple of days. If Georgie is anything like his dad he will be up and moving the moment we step foot in the door at home. KC is a heart doggy so I will spoil her rotten 😉

While waiting for them to come-to from anesthesia (which does take considerably longer than the actual surgery does!) I was able to explore the local Ross and boy oh boy did I find some fabulous deals! Dresses for $5.99 and $9.99. Nice dog show dresses!!! I will be styling this year in Brooksville!!

The dogs on the other hand? They’re not too sure of this cold weather that’s for sure! So while we humans sip away on the champagne to celebrate, they cuddle up in blankets completely unaware of the fact that it is time to celebrate. It’s all good! As long as they’re happy and warm! And clearly they are!

Today they found Breezy’s bed and all piled into a sun-seeking huddle. Too adorable not to capture!

Mr. Georgie was not cooperating. Or at least his urges weren’t. Rita tried for quite a while to collect from him and it just was not going to happen. Talk about blue balls? Poor little guy! At this point we were left with a choice. Skip the breeding or try another male. This is going to be KC’s last season. She’s getting up in age and I do not want put her through the hormones anymore. This was her day 10 – the day to start the breeding!! Rita suggested we go with Patriot Eddie’s father and Tino’s grandfather. It would it would not bring in the newer stuff so. That is what Georgie brings. I hemmed and hawed but finally to find decided to go for it. I figured I would do the one insemination and let fate make the decisions for me. If we artificially inseminated with Georgie I would come back in two days for a second breeding. All it really takes is one so this is where fate had to take over. We shall see if we have a litter around the first of the year.

I can say it was kind of funny to watch KC while she was being inseminated. She kept looking over at Georgie the entire time. He looked defeated and she looked disappointed. Like “Dude, what is up?”

Dewey lives for me – I think he would actually die if I did! And KC is the first puppy is fell head over heels for the moment she was born. She was from the first “I am going to show chihuahuas” litter and she didn’t fail me or my dream. Her son Tino will be my first Champion Bred-By!

In addition to day two of working with Renée and Team Valor, Alexis got to show Japanese Chins for Mary Beth and will do so again tomorrow.  It is not as exciting has competing in Juniors but at least it’s something. She is grateful to just enter the ring plus she loves helping Mary Beth 😀

Exciting news of the day is today Boomer’s son – Boom Boom – is being delivered by Rayna’s friend Vanne. Today we have been so looking forward to since back in September. We still have to keep an eye on his testicles, we have one that keeps floating act up, so fingers crossed that he will get to stay! I will say that he is adorable as ever, a ball of energy and took to the lead within a few minutes. He even let me bathe him! That’s points in my book. Now I can’t wait for Alexis to come home and enjoyed him and all of his puppy wonder. Four more days until she is home.
