It started with her rolling over onto her back for the puppies to nurse, not requiring us to hold her down. That was a nice change. Then came this evening! The miracle happened!

I came into the room and looked down upon the doggy bed I had situated next to the whelping box. That is the spot I would find her every time I entered the room. Not this time! she as in the whelping box with the puppies and they were nursing away. Ohhh Yeah! She claimed them!

The post Her First 24 first appeared on Figgy's Chihuahuas AKC Show Breeder/Handler in Florida.]]> It has been 24 hours since the puppies arrived and I can tell you that our new mommy has yet to claim them. She isn’t leaving their area but she is not jumping int he when box on her own to nurse them. For the time being, I go in every 2 hours, lay KC on her side and hold her down to allow them to nurse. She is actually very tolerant and willing once they are latched on.
