Costume Closet

After last year’s costume extravaganza, I added new threads to the costume closet (or should I say storage bin) and I use say, the additions were well worth it! Shopping in the Small Animal section at PetSmart was the way to go for sure – they fit our tinies perfectly! Tino, Dewey and Olive were great sports for the holiday dress-up party!

Christmas Tradition

Every year the dog’s toy selection changes because Santa brings them a new slew of treasures! Of course, Breezy LOVED the toys – She searched out those with squeakers almost instantly! The Chihuahuas were not as interested but Boom Boom loved the gift opening!

Millie is a toy lover so she and her sweet baby boy got their own private holiday gift opening celebration. Oops checked out the new toys after his mom ripped open the wrapping paper to eat.

Totally Predictable

The roped Christmas light dog toy from Target was back this year! I actually bought it around Thanksgiving because I didn’t want to have to go another year without one in the house. And it was the first gift opened this year – I don’t know who was more excited, me or the dogs.

The final chewed off bulb was thrown away about 11 months ago so our young ones had yet to experience the true joy of this toy but I have to share this very interesting observation…

The dog born on Christmas last year, too young to previously experience this magic toy, was the first to claim it this year and the first to chew off the first bulb. Crazy cool right? And so the fun begins all over again!

Of All The Gifts….

So our family opens up our gifts very VERY late on Christmas Eve and right into Christmas morning. Our son and daughter-in-law flew into town yesterday and they are staying here with us for the visit. They invited some friends over to help us celebrate the season and it has turned into quite the fiesta of fun!

One of the items I wrapped up for myself, I mean, Santa brought for me, was a collection of dog costumes and outfits I found on the shopping adventure during our trip to Savannah. (PetSmart had them marked 50% off – how could I pass that up???) The girls were tickled pink with the idea of getting to dress up the of littlest of dogs. Like dressing up a collection of Barbie dolls, they tried each one on and then asked if I had any more. Well of course I do! Years worth of Halloween costumes and frilly dress.

Olive, Tipsy and Dewey were so patient and willing to play along. All they cared about as being held, wearing a little black dress or not. I mean, look at Dewey in a ladybug dress!!! He just loves all of the attention! We may just have found a new holiday tradition!

Must’a Sniffed It Out

I found Dewey under the Christmas tree, helping himself to the unwrapping of one of the dog’s wrapped gifts. I have no idea how he picked that one out of all of the gifts under the tree. If was a flat squeekerless toy that makes the crinkled paper sound. There is no smell to it so seriously, how did he know? What ever it was, I let him finish ripping it open and claim it as his own.

Christmas Came Early

While at Walgreens today, I walked down the center aisle and wouldn’t you know it, they had their Christmas stuff out already. I am not sure what made me pause and peruse – Perhaps my guardian angel – but when I saw these two lovely stuff animals and then realized they were animatronic I literally giggled with glee! A holiday Chihuahua and Pug!!

The Chihuahua shakes his little maracas while he sings, Donde esta Santa Claus? SO ADORABLE!! The Pug sings the infamous, Can’t Touch This. The cutest Thug Pug ever! Both are $14.99 each, and now permanent additions to our Christmas decor.

First Figgy Christmas for Several

We have several new dogs in the house this year for Christmas, and I am not talking about the six new puppies born this morning!

Boomer, Marg, Smoochie, Tipsy and Stoli have never experienced a Figgy Christmas. Each dog in our house gets their very own gift to open and honestly, sometimes they get it and sometimes they don’t.

Marg and Boomer were not really getting it. Once we intervened a bit, Marg LOVED the new toys. Smoothie and Stoli got it almost instantly while Tipsy didn’t care to be bothered in any way! KC took on her toy and Tipsy’s – You snooze you loose!
