Costume Closet

After last year’s costume extravaganza, I added new threads to the costume closet (or should I say storage bin) and I use say, the additions were well worth it! Shopping in the Small Animal section at PetSmart was the way to go for sure – they fit our tinies perfectly! Tino, Dewey and Olive were great sports for the holiday dress-up party!

Happy Halloween

I have been singing the praises of the Small Animal Costumes available at PetSmart for quite a while and what better a time to talk about them than Halloween? I picked up the witch hat, black spider and the glitter pumpkin costumes and as you can see, they fit 4lb and less Chihuahuas perfectly! Better than the small dog costumes do, that’s for sure! Just yours while the getting is good… and Happy Halloween!

I Have No Idea!

We decided to drive down the West Palm Beach this afternoon so that we could get a nice start tomorrow morning. I had a lot of computer work that I needed to finish so after we arrived and unpacked, I settled down with my laptop and a cup of coffee. Georgie begged his way up onto the bed, just as he usually does but this time I pulled a unique move.

When we are at home, I don’t belly band him because we have a really hard time keeping the urine stains at bay. We do have the band him while in hotels though. Three intact boys in one room? Oh yeah! They are all belly banded!

I watched Georgie snuggle up into my blanket on the bed. I always bring something from home to sleep with at hotels. So when I saw him bury his front end in and under the blanket and leave his rear end out, I didn’t know what to think. Is he taking in the smells of home? Only cold on the top half? Weighed down in the rear? Don’t know why he did it but man it’s a trip!

Fittings

So I got new costumes for this year’s Chihuahua de Mayo. I gave a sneak peek of KC’s costume but here are the boy’s and Olive’s. I had to do fittings today (yes, I waited until the last minute like I always seem to do) and all four of our participants’ costumes will require some altering. Time to dig out the sewing kit!

This Is How We Roll

We are planning on attending the Chihuahua De Mayo event again this year in Daytona Beach and I wanted to got all out this time on the dog’s costumes. We got last minute outfits last year so with 12 months worth of time for planning, I decided to go with a theme for this year. Pop Music!

Here is a sneak peek at what we will be sporting this May. The first costume arrived in the mail today and KC was our somewhat willing model. I see a bit of tailoring in my future but all in all – I think it;s going to work. Our Material Girl looks awesome!

Look What I Found

So my trip to PetSmart included an exploration of the small animal aisle (now that I know to) and look what I found! Olive and Dewey have new Spring costumes!

The carrot is truly my favorite and the bunny was just too cute to not get. They had a yellow chicken costume too but I I couldn’t see either of my sweetie as a chick. Well – ok, I plan on waiting until the end of season sale to see if adding it to the collection was “meant to be”.

Football Season

When I opened the the birthday gift from my sister , I saw instantly what the year’s theme was – the dogs! She is the best gift getting EVER and this year she truly made me smile. Doggy magnets, a gift card to PetSmart and tiny little Detroit Lions jersey that was just too adorable!

KC was the perfect model and wore the jersey for the rest of the evening. She was so cute in it, it has inspired me to keep an eye out for other jerseys for us to add to our doggy clothes closet. Looking for some Florida teams for sure!!!!

Keeping Warm

We had quite the wait between ring times today so between running to the car to keep warm, one of the vendors had their doggy winter coats on sale for $5.00 a piece. You just KNOW I picked some up for the of the dogs right? George and KC toast right up in their new winter gear. Add the body heat from me and my lap and they were set for the final phase of the wait. Positioning us right in the sun was the added bonus. It truly made for a rather comfortable way to spectate the rest of the afternoon’s main events.

What the What?

So after the dress-up-fest that went down here on Christmas Eve, I thought I might stop by PetSmart to see if they had any thing on markdown for the after holiday sales. The doggy clothes were rather picked over, with only items in size Large left. I don’t see many large dogs in ugly Christmas sweaters. But on the end-cap was an entire collection of costumes for “small animals”. Like guinea pig small animals – Which just so happens to be the perfect size for our tinies, Dewey and Olive!

First, I had no idea that such a thing existed. Granted, we does up out Chihuahuas so why not do the same to your guinea pig, right? This tiny size is actually perfect for a 2-2 pound Chihuahuas – Like crazy perfect! And days after Christmas, I picked the full costumes up for $2.30 and the hats for $1.50. Unheard-of in the dog clothes market! Run don’t walk to your local PetSmart before the sell out. I am packing up ours for next year’s extravaganza!

That’s A Talent!

Back at the hotel after a very busy day at the dog show, we let the boys in the pen to release some pent up energy. We have a ripe momma in the room with us so all of the boys are a bit on edge. Well, at minimum, marking anything and everything. So it that being said, we pulled out the belly bands and hooked them up. It didn’t take but a mere 5 minutes for me to find THIS! A lone belly band, still Velcroed closed and conveniently turned not a pissing post. CLASSIC!

Beamer’s belly band is a tad too large for him – OBVIOUSLY – and he clearly wiggled out, leaving it laying in the pen. What was funny was the way they acted like nothing happened, as if hoping I wouldn’t notice it lying there. Those silly boys!
