The dogs on the other hand? They’re not too sure of this cold weather that’s for sure! So while we humans sip away on the champagne to celebrate, they cuddle up in blankets completely unaware of the fact that it is time to celebrate. It’s all good! As long as they’re happy and warm! And clearly they are!

As we drove the 9 hour drive to the show site, when our eyes weren’t on the road they were on the weather forecast. Hurricane Irma is brewing out there with a path that makes this trip a nail-biter. Storm paths change so much I figured we would play it by ear but I am hoping it not only steers clear of our homes and families in Florida but also away from up in the Panhandle.

We made it to Biloxi late this afternoon and are settled in for the night. We have an early day at the Toy Breed Show tomorrow. Wish us luck!

Today we let all the dogs run outside to potty between squalls of rain. Blue did her thing but unfortunately she didn’t catch the sign that the other dogs were coming inside because it started POURING RAIN!!!! Admittedly, I didn’t count everyone when they ran in. Usually when it rains they won’t even go outside and would most definitely not wish to remain outside. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought one of them stayed outside.

So 30 minutes AFTER I ran the dogs I saw a moving shadow in the back window off the deck inspiring me to turn on the porch light. There was Blue, completely drenched and sitting by the door, patiently waiting to be let in. Once I opened the door, she ran right over to her specially claimed bed. You can actually see the wet paw prints from her jaunt to her spot! I grabbed a towel for her to cuddle and dry off in. That’s exactly what she did too!

Now I have to say that our newest litter of puppies are lucky to have been born this summer! They will be accustom to the thunder booms- You’re welcome future Figgy Chihuahua Puppy Families!

Dewey didn’t complain one bit. Of  course the dog has negative body fat so I am sure any chance for heat is welcome to our little man. He truly enjoyed laying in front of the fire to toast while I stripped my clothes off.

Clearly they were unfazed by the howls of wind, crashing of debris and lack of power. More so than us humans!

As the dg show gods usually play it, Alexis and ryes took it all yesterday so today they were dumped. All the way around. Honesty, I think the excitement and the intense heat propped them both out. Yesterday was well earned and this weekend was truly amazing. Georgie awesome wins, Pryia’s entire Saturday and the lessons and experiences Alexis got to experience working with Renee? PRICELESS! In the 2 Hour drive home with the air conditioning blasting was the perfect way to end the perfect weekend.

It’s not the majorly intense heat we are having – he is actually enjoying time spent in the sun. The problem is there hasn’t been as much sunshine as he would like. He HATES the thunder and lightening of summer storms. Dude literally shakes when the storms are approaching, sensing their arrival with fear anxiety. Poor Dude!

It seemed to have come out of nowhere. Granted, we have our nightly afternoon showers but this was way beyond a typical storm. The gusts of wind were intense, so much so that I captured what was either a microburst or small tornado on video. Luckily, we didn’t have any permanent damage. A lot of tree branches in the yard and four fence panels down. Our trash cans were blown about with the actual trashed tossed all over the yard and our mailbox cap blown off and into the yard.

The other damage was to Dude’s psyche. He has never fared well in storms and last night was no different. He squirmed in behind my back on the couch and in between the pillows. He stayed there until well after the storm had passed and for welling to this morning, he was at my side He even cuddled up tight while bed. Poor Dude!
