A Truly Amazing Day!

Never on my wildest dreams would I have thought I would have more amazing news to share form today beyond earning his first Major. Ohhhh no! The amazement continued right into the evening with our participation in the Annual Breeders Showcase here at the Orlando Show Cluster.

I have attended this special event for the last 4 years. The first year was with KC, the second with Bubbles and Dream, the third with Tipsy and of course, Georgie, this year. Unfortunately I have seen a drop in the entries each year and have also never made it past the 1st place in our class or Best of Breed. That was until this year!

Georgie and I were the only smooth coat entry but we truly enjoyed rooting for our friends in the long coat variety as well as the other breeds that were entered. The event is one of my favorite of the year so sticking around for Groups was my pleasure. Cheering Stephanie while she was in with her long coat female puppy, I was beyond thrilled to watch her get a Group 4. Georgie and I went in for the Adult Groups – now that our little man turned 1 yearly last weekend – I never thought we would get beyond his Best of Breed. Boy was aI wrong!

When the judge pointed at me for the Group Four, I think my face was probably plastered with a look of pure shock. WOW!!! Our teenager got a G4!!!!!! While waiting for our photos the judge pulled me aside to make note that she recognized he was still young but said to not give up on him. That once he learned to chill and stay focused on me while on the lead he is going to be an amazing show dog. That his movement is stunning and she can’t wait to watch for him in the future. Yes, I teared up! SO proud of our miracle boy – SO PROUD!!!

Breeder’s Sweepstakes

I have entered the Breeder’s Sweepstakes at this Orlando Dog Show Cluster for several years. I have enjoyed the comradery and pride shown by breeders. I have always felt it is an event for those of us that are not professional handlers but are in the sport based on our passions to better our breed. I anticipated the annual BB-Qed pulled pork sandwiches, beans and coleslaw and edging the meals with friends. It was after I saw the entries in the Judging Program that I realized, this was not going to be like those Sweepstakes of yesteryear. I am so sad!

Tipsy and I were the only Long Coat bitch entered. Michele and Jake were the only Smooth Coat, period! Sure, it was nice to be able to go back in for groups, but it was a “gimme” win! Then to have a professional handler take Group 1? Well, it was very disappointing. All in all I love supporting the event and had a great time having with my friends (the two that entered the event) and yes, I made some new friends too! But I have to say, I might have to save my money next year and perhaps enter an additional dog in the main day show if the interest is this minute.

Breeder’s Showcase

My first chance to enter and participate in a Breeder’s Showcase was awesome! Granted, it was after a very VERY long day and exhaustion doesn’t fully describe how both KC and I were feeling. It was a much more laid-back show and KC looked the best she did all weekend thus far! I figured she would be draggin’ butt. She did everything but! Now back home we go to try to get any amount of sleep before w come back at 7:30 tomorrow morning…

Longest Day Thus Far

Today will be my longest show day to-date. Starting this morning with KC’s entry in Bred-By Exhibitor for the Central Florida Kennel Club, following with my daughter’s Junior Showmanship this afternoon as well as having Barbie’s eyes checked at the Eye Clinic and then the Breeder’s Sweepstakes tonight! We packed a cooler with snacks as well as lunch, to help keep us humans content and some extra kibble as well as chicken bait for the Chis to keep them happy.

Day two of KC’s weekend was more of the same – Proud as ever for our fourth place. This was the first judge to comment on the extra puppy teeth in her mouth so the appointment I have scheduled for next week is most definitely a go! I had hoped to have it done before this weekend, admittedly wishing they would come out naturally. Whoopsy!

On another medical note I took Barbie over to the eye clinic and she passed her exam! Hello CERF certification!!!
