Dude has always been a dog that prefers humans over fellow canines but in his old age, he seems to have a toddler melt-down if he cannot greet and give affection to anyone who enters our home! I mean, “scratch at the door until the paint peels off” melt-down!!! Needless to say 98% of the people that come to our house are dog lovers who will oblige him but still, it’s so annoying to have his behavior rewarded but he is so darn determined and so adorably cute!

Another Weekend Together

Baby and Dude are back together again this weekend just like old times – As the oldest tow in the crew, they rocked this o=sue 10 years ago as the two alphas. Now they live on laps like a king and queen – or in this weekend’s case, right next to the grill that is mass producing the cooked meat from tonight’s BBQed meal! YUM!!!

The Storm Cuddle

This summer has been exceptionally filled with afternoon thunder storms – We have seen quite a few severe storms this year! Our summer dogs (those born in the summer/spring months) are handling it fine. It’s the winter dogs that are having a pretty hard time. Breezy, Dude, Cosmo, and Blue are the worst! They can sense the storms off in the distance and alert us to their approach sometimes an hour before they arrive! Cowering in blankets or on the back of the couch, whining and whimpering, with some of them following our every step as if we can stop the madness! Poor things! Cosmo is on high alert this afternoon while Dewey is simply taking advantage and using his body heat!

Now I have to say that our newest litter of puppies are lucky to have been born this summer! They will be accustom to the thunder booms- You’re welcome future Figgy Chihuahua Puppy Families!

Baby, our second Chihuahua, took to our oldest the moments she became part of the family. Even as a tiny puppy, she knew her human was Bradley! She turned 10 back in November and oh the adventures these two have taken in the last few years. He moved out and got married, Baby in tow! It has been a very long time since she has been back in our house. Like three sectionals and two floorings ago! With that said, it was as if she never left when the kids brought their dogs over for the weekend. Baby was right back on my hubby’s lap, cuddled up next to our very first Chihuahua, Dude! New couch and all – nothing between these three changed!

I Think They Approve

We have been in the market for a new sectional for over a year now. Finding the perfect furniture for our dog-filled lifestyle has not been an easy task. We did a two piece corduroy setup that was hands down, the most comfortable furniture ever! It dint clean so well though and we want something a bit more easy to maintain. Then came the module leather sectional. LOVED how easy to was to maneuver and clean. About 12 months in to owning it, the comfort and cushion was gone and downfall of modular framing became evident. Also, we fell hook, line and sinker for the cleaning product program they offered us when they sod us the set. I used it religiously on it. Unfortunately, about a year ago it began to peel and crack. Come to find out, water – ONLY WATER! Needless to say, wasn’t happy with the outcome and we have no plan return that that store again. Finding the perfect blend of clean-ablity and comfort was our goal – This piece with a vinyl covered bottom framing and plush fabric cushions was the perfect solution. While Alexis and I were freezing our butts off in Ocala at the dog show, this new setup was being delivered and set up. I was actually quite excited about getting home to see it in all of it’s comfy glory!

Once we did get home, I saw that it was the perfect choice for the entire Figgy clan. Not only did we pick out a new section with the comfort of our former two-piece set up, but I decided to lighten things up in the room a bit and picked out solid wood, white entertainment system. It looks better than I imagined and the comfort is beyond my dreams. Everyone found their individual spot and now that we are home, Alexis has proven it is perfect! She has claimed chair (along with Breezy) and shown that it beats the first setup in the sleep-abilty department. She was out light light!

Big Bowl Buddies

With big dogs in the house we have added bigger bowls to the mix. Come to find out Breeze is one of the dogs in the house that leaves kibble behind. Our skinny dogs – Georgie, Dewey and Olive – have another skinny-minney to add to the club. Dude and Cosmo cue in on the club members because they want to eat their leftovers. Normally they are batting over the little dogs bowls – Big dog bowls can be shared!

And So They Wait

Every time I head out to take Alexis to or pick he up from work, these three amigos have to be placed into the front family room. If they aren’t in the front room they have special little Chihuahua meltdowns. This usually includes howling, a lot of jumping up and down and banging into the doggy gates. Our “Special” ones have tad bit of anxiety from over spoilage. So in the front room, cuddled up on the couch and able to see when we I all back into the driveway. Problem solved!

Dude Can’t Wait

What for you ask? For Summer to be OVER!

It’s not the majorly intense heat we are having – he is actually enjoying time spent in the sun. The problem is there hasn’t been as much sunshine as he would like. He HATES the thunder and lightening of summer storms. Dude literally shakes when the storms are approaching, sensing their arrival with fear anxiety. Poor Dude!

My Morning Companion

Every morning when I drive Alexis to work, Dude has an anxiety attack over us leaving the house. He will dart out the door when we open it in the trickiest of ways and then he will jump right up into the car when you open that door. Some morning sI am not about it while others I let him ride shot-gun. Today was one of those days. We have storms a brew so to help him from having a second anxiety attack from the sound of thunder and lightening he is my morning companion.

Better to Be Safe

…than sorry!

We have a show to go to in Hilton Head, South Carolina this weekend and with the size of KC and the way that she is acting, we thought it would be best to have her stay with Rita. She lives a lot closer to the vet, just incase we need to move up her surgery because the pups choose to make an earlier arrival.

Dude came along for the ride to meet Rita ad he made the perfect nap buddy for the hour drive.
