The post I’m A Trooper first appeared on Figgy's Chihuahuas AKC Show Breeder/Handler in Florida.]]> I am back at the ICE dog show this weekend, snapping photos and capturing the fun when a little drama unfolded. I usually end up holding dogs on leads no matter what type of show I go to. Today I watched an owner struggle with trying to show two different puppies and I offered to help by holding the lead for one while she went into the ring with the other. Innocent and easy, right?

Well…he didn’t want to be away from his mommy! Once he realized she wasn’t beside him, he darted to get to her in the ring. If he pulled me down it would have crashed and destroyed my camera and VERY expensive lens sooooooo… I held on for dear life!

My fingers paid the price for it but the camera setup is untouched and all good! It shall live to see another day – back tomorrow for more fun – taped up fingers and all

More and more people keep using it to document not only the event but also friendships…old and new… wins, and even defeats! No matter how much of a pain in the butt it was to transport – Thank you Sylvia for your help -packing my luggage, I never would have made it home!!! – I will bring this setup for as long as I attend the event! The post What A Fun Day! first appeared on Figgy's Chihuahuas AKC Show Breeder/Handler in Florida.]]> When you have a dog show that is close to home, (Less than an hour) have friends in town from other States also with friends that you only get to see at shows AND your dog does well – Oh Yeah! That makes for a fabulous show day! I hope it will make a for a fabulous show weekend too!

It started with the arrival of my friends Hiram who is here for the weekend. Showing his amazing pek Lukas, any time spent with him is a treat. To watch them win a Group 1 and then Best in Show? PRICELESS!!!

I also got to hang with Karen and the girls, watching Emma with Breezy rock it in juniors!! Seeing our sweet girl recognize me with major hugs and kisses was of course amazing.

For me, winning a Select with TIno in Breed was of course awesome but the icing on the cake was the amazing Group 4 in the Owner- Handler ring. The judge had us all FLIPPING OUT! He called in the opposite order so the whole room, including myself, thought I got a G1 but honesty it’s ok – any placement is a true honor and Tino showed his butt off big time. He earned it for sure!

We ended the night going to the WVKC fundraiser dinner. I was asked to bring my photo booth to the event so of course, I was honored to. We had a tad bit of fun posing and of course enjoying the pizza and salad dinner. Yum-Mee!

The post 8 Weeks Old first appeared on Figgy's Chihuahuas AKC Show Breeder/Handler in Florida.]]> The puppies are officially 8 weeks old today and we have decided to place all three boys in pet homes. Each is sweet as ever and would make fabulous new-additions. Vice and Thunder would make wonderful family pets! And I am here to tell you that this photo was a true miracle. That’s right! ONE single photo that came out decent. Their individual photos turned out beautiful – The group shot? Not so much. I didn’t even anticipate one so this was a true win in my book! Especially since it is better than last week’s group shots!

Being invited back as the dog show photographer time and time again is such an honor and the people that participate in these shows are beyond amazing! I have met some of the kindest, friendliest and passionate people at these shows and I love the new friendships I have made. Of course, attending with long-time friends is a major bonus! I had a great time with Terri and her new puppy Cede and then meeting up with Debi and Hope was a very pleasant surprise. A great day one – can’t wait for day two!

The post Spring ICE first appeared on Figgy's Chihuahuas AKC Show Breeder/Handler in Florida.]]> The ICE dog shows are back in Florida so I have sent the weekend in Lakeland shooting the win photos as well as several thousand candid ringside shots. I so love these shows and if I wasn’t the event photographer, I would totally participate. They are just so laid-back and fun! I always recommend the shows to newbies as well as in the sport for years! It’s a great way to socialize and train your dogs too!

Terri and I had a great time catchup up, watching the fun and socializing Frankie – ALWAYS best puppy in show in my book!!!  I also brought Breezy today so we could socialize her. Clearly she had no problems with complete strangers loving on her! Boy, she really has come a long way since last Fall!!!

The post Another Fantastic Meet The Breed first appeared on Figgy's Chihuahuas AKC Show Breeder/Handler in Florida.]]> This is been weekend of the year, I am not excited to share that the scene have Barbara created for us to use at the Meet the Breed booth at the AKC National Championships not only was amazingly fun to work again, it clearly was fun for those that visited as well. After winning a Group 1 for the Toy Group and then Best in Show last year, we were honored and thrilled to receive a Group 1 again this year with the new design. The Rhodesian Ridgeback Booth was truly amazing, winning best in show this year.

This was our fifth year designing and running the booth and I cannot tell you how fun it is to see So many people comeback year after year to visit us. Of course Paul and Jane traveled from Rhode Island to watch the Championships and Specialty, but they also took in the booth this afternoon. So many other family members and friends came to the booth. Dr. Mario Took in the fun of the weekend and stop by to show his love of the breed. You also got to catch up with Rita and little Cupie. Rita has done an amazing job keeping her happy and as healthy as possible- all things considered. We definitely missed having Alexis there on Saturday. Our little girl is growing up, and of course making us very proud!

Tino was the main man and he received a ton of attention as well as socialization! As our example of a long coat Chihuahua puppy, he was also and a lot of our Photo Booth snapshots. He truly seemed to soak it all in and love every ounce of attention. Boy, I cannot wait to show him in 2017! He’s going to be one very confident boy!

Georgie on the other hand got a tad bit overwhelmed with so many hands reaching down to pet him. I swear, until the day he crosses over the rainbow bridge, he has every right in the world to be head shy. Having been picked up by a hawk, can you blame them? Last year he was the king of this puppy pen. Clearly he had no problem handing that title over to Tino!

I cannot wait to come back next year and share the love of the Chihuahua with all those that stop by and visit. I have to say, I loved manning the photo booth and I think it was a big hit! See you next year!

To kick off the season, in addition to sorting the bestest holiday Pug LuLaRoe leggings, we have set up our Figgy Photo Booth at the As The Tail Wags grooming in Oviedo for the month of December. I cannot wait to see the fun holiday photos taken this year. We have tons of fun props and such for pets and their humans cause for their photos – Digit the shop cat says “Stop on by and have some photo fun!”
