I mean in a BREEDING YAHOOOOO!!!

February Milly-Tino Bey Beys!

First, this would be Margie’s last breeding and then she will retire with us permanently. I’m very excited to see what she produces. She’ll be going back to Rayna next week for her breeding.

Millie will be bred to Tino! This will be his first breeding and potentially her last! This will be a line breeding her paternal side and I am excited to see what the results are. Fingers crossed everyone!!!!!

Mr. Georgie was not cooperating. Or at least his urges weren’t. Rita tried for quite a while to collect from him and it just was not going to happen. Talk about blue balls? Poor little guy! At this point we were left with a choice. Skip the breeding or try another male. This is going to be KC’s last season. She’s getting up in age and I do not want put her through the hormones anymore. This was her day 10 – the day to start the breeding!! Rita suggested we go with Patriot Eddie’s father and Tino’s grandfather. It would it would not bring in the newer stuff so. That is what Georgie brings. I hemmed and hawed but finally to find decided to go for it. I figured I would do the one insemination and let fate make the decisions for me. If we artificially inseminated with Georgie I would come back in two days for a second breeding. All it really takes is one so this is where fate had to take over. We shall see if we have a litter around the first of the year.

I can say it was kind of funny to watch KC while she was being inseminated. She kept looking over at Georgie the entire time. He looked defeated and she looked disappointed. Like “Dude, what is up?”

They are both running in front of me while I am walking and rolling over for belly rubs. I mean like, “I could trip over you like THAT” run and stop in front of me. I will tell you it has made be become much more aware of where I am stepping but still – it’s adorable and equally odd.

She did have me for a moment – I even brought the whelping box upstairs, and put her in the guest bedroom. I felt her abdomen, palpating to see if I could feel anything. Not only was there no puppy bumps or movement but never once did I feel her contract or push. Her teats are swollen but there is no milk production – This poor baby is going through a major false pregnancy!

I have wondered about her hormone levels since we did try to breed her last year and it didn’t take. Also, she’s a chunky one, like her grandmother POST spay and unlike her grandmother and mother who are total fertile myrtles never producing less than three puppies – most commonly five – in a litter.

Since a false pregnancy is all about the hormones, this further confirms my thoughts. I see a well deserved spay in her future.

For her second and last show of the trip, Stella actually walked around the ring with her tail up on both go-rounds. She was much better on the table (yes, we do still have work to do on that) and she tolerated the cold way better than I thought. While I was in the ring with Stella, Alexis was a couple rings down for Juniors with Breezy.

Now she did not do so well in the cold temps, so much so that she appeared to be cramping up in the ring and didn’t necessarily want to even stand. Poor Breezy! After her ring time we warmed her up in the car –  A jacket for our sweet girl is on my to-do list!

Another ring conflict allowed Alexis to show Pryia in breed today and I am thinking the cold effected Alexis more so than Pryia. Her own gait was off – perhaps from trying got keep herself warm? No love but I think it was an accomplishment since Pryia is in season and didnt baulk once when being examined! Glass half full!

It’s been a very long and very good weekend! Waking early, going to bed late and working non-stop, I think Alexis needs to build her stamina – I think we both do! Alexis worked her butt off with Renee, proving she can work with me there, but not THERE. Huge accomplishment! Next show we will try with her staying at the hotel with Renee!

I kinda like the idea of them both having litters at the same time. Barbie is a proven and amazing mother while this is KC’s first litter. Another nursing mommy in the house can a wonderful thing. And we will have a very busy Fall with lots of puppy pitter patters and puppy breath – YAHOOOO!!! Take that and wrap the fact that Keep your breeding fingers crossed!
