A few others I thought you might like to see is KC’s litter mates, Kiki and Kahula. Both are doing FABULOUS and are beyond loved with their new forever families. Of course, we also have a photo of Huggie to share. He is the king of his castle with Kiki being the queen – adorable as ever and loved unconditionally.

Another exciting update is that of Chanel who is Bubble’s sister. She didn’t get that much bigger after she let but she surly got her beautiful adult coat to come in – STUNNING!!!!

She is a whopping 2.5 pounds and is finally filling out in the coat department! Sweet as ever, she is cherished and adored unconditionally.

Last month while we were at Doc’s office having KC’s puppy teeth pulled, I brought Teddy along for a health check before we took him on the dog show road. that morning, I met this amazing woman Arnita who had just lost her 13 year old Chihuahua hours before. after seeing Teddy in the carrier, she solemnly asked if she could see him and she spent the next 30 minutes sharing some of the most heartwarming stories of her little guy, all while petting and holding my lover boy. Before she left, I explained that it may sound odd, but that when she came to the point that she wanted to have another cuddle buddy that I would love to help her find one. I could tell by the look on her face that I had taken her by surprise but that at some point, that offer would come to the forefront of her mind. Our sweet lap-lovers can never be replaced, but that unconditional love can come from a new addition. I had seen it one too many time before. That hole in the heart will yearn to be filled.

That day came – with a phone call and an admission. Yes, she did find my offer odd, thinking she could NEVER replace her sweet boy. She fought off calling me for close to two weeks, finally picking up the phone and hoping the offer still stood. She wanted to start over with a new forever friend.

We had always intended on keeping all three of our puppies from our first Teddy litter. Now that the girls are 8 months old, we have a much clearer picture of their development and maturity. It was crystal clear that Kahlua was very slow to mature and would never get over the 3 pound mark. With that being said, showing and most definitely breeding, were out of the question. We planned on holding on to her until she was two years old to see if she filled out more and when I met Arnita, I hoped to find her placement of a retired show dog. But with her call and amazing words about Teddy and his adorable girls, I knew what I had to do.

When I told her that I would be willing to place Kahlua I think her heart melted. I knew it was the perfect choice for BOTH of them. Kahlua is such an amazing girl that loves all people unconditionally and would flourish in a one-on-one home. She would want for nothing with Arnita and she would fill that hole in an entirely new way. Congrats to both of you!!!

I have been been trying to get her accustom to sound and vibrations from my Wahl ARCO trimmers and thought I was making fabulous progress- until tonight when she growled and tried to bite the thing! I couldn’t figure out what got her tail hairs in a wad – Until I got a peek at her girly parts while trimming the nails on her hind legs.

It looks like our baby is entering her first heat! She is swollen up to double her normal tiny-bitty size. Poor thing! All this AND her first heat? She seemed to be taking it all in stride and tolerated the blow dryer much better than the trimmer and by the time we got to the Dremel, she was a breeze.

Penned in the grass for potty and play breaks this afternoon was a new experience that they handled with ease. It was simply a slight adjustment to what they are used to at home and while we are camping. It was the sleeping in a carrier in a hotel room that was totally new them them and for me. This is the first show I have stayed at for the weekend. All of the other shows I have attended I have driven to from my house, with sleeping in my ow bed in-between. All three of my girls did wonderfully in the new location and setup. Kahlua whimpered for a few minutes but eventually she curled up with her sister and they slept through the night.

Now Dream? That was another story. When we got to the show location, my first goal was to get her out and onto the lead. Yes, she statued for the first 10 minutes or so, but soon, she was walking! It took another dog to inspire her to getup off her butt and I kept her walking right through to our ring time of 1:45 pm. But the moment I placed her onto the mat in the ring, WHAMO! She was a deer in headlights. We made it to the first turn and she wasn’t about to take another step. So as I jokingly predicated, I carried her the rest of the way. She has her first 2nd place ribbon and her first ring experience that I insisted to make a positive one in the end. One more day to go – and a lot more lead training are in my future!

There was a lot more excitement today though. Rita with Cavahua Chihuahuas and I are staying up here in Elkton for the weekend and she cleaned house! Her Grand Champion, Fanny as well as her up and coming long coats, Chris and Pixie Dust are here as well. Chris took Winners Dog and Pixie Dust took reserve to Winner’s Bitch. With Fanny going in for Best of Variety, I got to handle Chris and he took not only Best of Winners but also Best of Breed! Wooo Hooooo! Rita moved onto groups with Chris this afternoon but he unfortunately didn’t make that cut. No matter how he faired in groups, the boy has more points to add to his name and is that much closer to his champion title!

Today was the Tampa Bay Chihuahua Club’s Spring Training Session. Club members can bring their puppies and other Chihuahuas to a training session to give them conformation experience in a more relaxed environment. All of our lead, table and bait training in the comforts of home are one things – The NEW environment can change everything!

Dream’s 10 steps yesterday reduced to two today in the ring. Poor things was not a sitting statue today, but made for a pretty standing one. We tried everything to get her to take a step but it simply wasn’t meant to be. We kept the whole experience as positive as possible, giving her treats of BBQ hotdogs minus the condiments. I think that made her a rather happy camper in the end.

And I am sure you are waiting with bated breath to hear how KC and Kahlua did in their ring debut. I made an agreement to help Rita with her littermate puppies if she help me with mine. We both want to show our girls in the Bred By class officially, so we have to choose one to work with at a time. But the other must still be worked with so that when their time comes, they will be ready.

I have been working with the girls for the last month on the table and to walk on the lead. They have actually been easier than Dream! They walk – it may not be pretty, but they walk. They have the attention span of a fly at the age of four months, but they are well on their way. And these mini training sessions at home, paid off today. They made their way around, me with Kahlua and Rita with KC, and for their first time ever, I was so very pleased with how well they did. KC took second and Kahlua took fourth – They made me so proud!
