And I don’t know who is more excited! Seriously! It has been a day we have been waiting for now, for almost a year. We have known that when Beamer was retired from our program, he was going to live up in Rhode Island with Paul and Jane – and of course, Huggie and Kiki too. 

When they got to the house today, I swear, he barked with excitement and his tail went into double speed. Beamer clearly remembered their visit over the summer and maybe even understood why they were back? I can tell you that his excitement never ceased , even while they visited with Olive again, along with meeting Beamer’s oldest sons.

It’s so awesome to see them – any time spent with Jane and Paul is a gift – And knowing they now have Beamer in their family makes me the happiest woman on the planet! Congrats to you ALL!

He is so fabulous with young puppies and I just know that he knows these are his sons. He should be very proud – they are both so sweet and affectionate. Their tails never seem to stop wagging!

We had his neuter scheduled along with his dental cleaning, getting his geared up and red for his new life in Rhode Island with Jane and Paul, along with Kiki and his uncle Huggie. The snip-snip will definitely make the transition for him a lot easier, especially with two males in the same house.

And while he was under, we had his teeth cleaned.  In addition to the typical tartar, he did have a total of five extractions – All were caps though. Puppy teeth that didn’t have adult teeth beneath to push them out. In this little guy’s case, missing teeth isn’t a bad thing because there isn’t much room in there anyways! Now that they are gone, he should have easy-breezy dental checkups from here on out.

I also brought Olive along for a checkup as well as her rabies vaccines.  We have noticed that when you place Olive on the ground, she sometimes falls forward onto her left shoulder, as if it gives-way. She doesn’t seem to be in pain though, so it was all very confusing. We have always known there is “something” off with Olive but all testing we have done has comeback fine. We may finally be closing in on the issues….

Doc noticed the same thing – She’s not in any apparent pain but he could also replicate it on both her front and rear left sides. He has narrowed it down to a neurological issues. Like the message to move her legs isn’t fast enough coming from the brain. We will be watching her form here on out and of course, keep her as happy and loved as we can!

Right about five weeks in, the hairs on her belly stand up straight and her nipples get nice and pink. She doesn’t really roll over for belly rubs unless she is pregnant. That in itself should have told me! And based on the size of her belly, I think we need to expect a large litter.

I suppose I should also announce that he and Barbie also have a chance to help my wish come true. It looks as though that breeding did take and will be expecting a litter next month. Barbie REALLY popped over the last couple of days. She too is a belly exposer – Especially when she is pregnant.

It was bitter-sweet to watch Beamer on his last go round the ring. He and Breanna have done such an amazing job over the last month and they earned one point, with a Best of Winner’s under his belt! That’s so huge! They kept him away from my until the males were done. He got a 2nd place with his “gimme” reserve and thanks to me keeping my big mouth shut, only looked out for me once. He looked so proud out there but he was never happier than when he was back in our loving arms. Because of this, I know our decision for his retirement after this weekend is the right way to go. Couch loving in Rhode Island has always been his future, and that future begins now! 

Tipsy and I walked around outside the ring for close to 20 minutes before her ring time. Her tail was up, her confidence was over-flowith and she walked around like she was at home. That was until someone dropped a crate and suddenly she went back to a ball of nerves. She came-to enough to walk the ring but nothing really behind that.

I can say my day three lesson in Tampa was used last night at the sweepstakes and again this morning. Getting down with her on the floor and hand-stacking her truly calms her nerves. I will work on that over the next couple of months to prepare for the shows in the fall. But until then, I think we are all happy the weekend is over!

I aways wait to take advantage of the amazing opportunities to have their eyes checked when the exams are offered at dogs shows where I can save up to 2/3 the regular cost!! So today I brought KC, Beamer and Tipsy and they all passed with flying colors. Since they all have passed their Hearts and Patellas, we will be submitting for their CHIC numbers next, it make it all official!

My first report of the day is from the Chihuahua ring. As we waited ringside we had a blending of odd events that merged into a major kabooooom!

A friend who couldn’t make it to the show called to FaceTime and watch, we had Tipsy out on a lead to get acclimated to the room and people around us and were approaching the ring entry of the smooth coats when it happened. Tipsy saw a Pug being walked and decided to walk over to say hello. Unfortunately, Alexis, was holding the lead to Tips AND my iPhone, not noticing the fact that the owner of the Pug was about to walk into the lead, creating a “clothesline”. Yhep, the lead got tripped over and Tipsy the drama queen screamed like she had been murdered. A major scene for sure and you can bet that her tail did NOT come out from between her hind legs.

Soooooooo, while Beamer and Breanna did there thing in the ring, I walked Tipsy outside the ring, hoping to rebuild that confidence. Beamer had al of that confidence int he world, until he realized I was int he same room. Jen and Breanna met us ringside 15 minutes before going into the ring and clearly, after being away for the last week, he missed me! Once he knew I was there, I was all that he wanted. A second place ad gimme” reserve” was the result and lessons learned for tomorrow.

Tipsy did eventually make it into the ring, but with no tail at all. I was just thrilled that she walked! I was seriously thinking she has the walk scare out of her. She’ all good – we will keep working her confidence. We ill be spending more time on ground and not hidden away in a crate at shows – She needs to learn to be AT a show!
