We have been trying to find the perfect new home for J.B. for a while now and it looks like we have finally done just that! The rain is finally falling from the sky today. The dogs may not be too happy about it but we humans sure are! The proof is in the photos! Look at them! They are not only walking, wrestling and over a pound in weight, but they are sitting and posing for their photos! Their eyes followed my every move and they are extremely aware of their surroundings. This is a fantastic sign when it comes to the ability to train a dog once it is older. As with all Blue litters, she has a couple of porkers on her hands. Her puppies always seem to grow so fast with weight gain NEVER an issue. So much so that her 6oz birth weight puppies charted to grow to 6.5lbs but never made it to 4lbs! This litter is following suit with past pups and has doubled their birth weight in seven days. As they grow, I cannot help but wonder something else. Another unique Blue trait is that while in heat, she accepts males WAY early in her cycle. Normally it is day 9 or 10. WHAT is up with the weather in Florida??? First, the coldest winter on record and now a straight week of beautiful weather???? I know the dogs have taken note. They are thrilled with the chance to play outside and today was one that actually made them HOT. Now that’s quite the change! After about 10 minutes of running around, they all gathered around the water bowl for a quick break. This happened a few more times and then J.B., Buddy and Cosmo decided to simply look out at the others and watch instead of enduring the heated exhaustion. J.B. is not one for change. The changing out of the dog beds is a prime example! I finished up two of the new beds, allowing me to finally pull the old ones for us to use in the camper. J.B. was the only one who didn’t jump right in and join the new bed party. He preferred the old ones – like men and their old, holey underwear over new ones. He napped alone in the old beds, not even being willing to jump out when we pulled them. He then spent the next hour pacing in around the new bed, sniffing every crease and corner. J.B. truly does have a way with the ladies and one of the few males that is buddies with both the girls AND the boys even when there is no heat in the house. He can go from cuddling with the boys on the back of the couch to cleaning the ears of the girls while they sun bathe in the kitchen. He must know the way to a Chi girl’s heart is through a wet ear cleaning!
