Playtime at 10 Weeks
Hemingway and Ixtapa turned 9 weeks old yesterday and when they came out to play with the girls in my daughter’s Girl Scout troop tonight, it was very apparent that all of our socialization has really paid off. They almost spent the entire meeting with the girl’s and couldn’t seem to get enough.

So much on the list and all was accomplished – And then some even! It started with vaccines and health certificates for Colada’s puppies. Jilli and Hemingway are big enough for vaccines but we decided to hold off on Ixtapa until she gets a bit bigger. Other than her tiny size, she check out perfectly! We also brought Maui so that she too could get a health certificate so she can go home with Linda this weekend. Because she is older, her check consisted of a Heartworm test and a fecal exam, which both had negative results. The final task added to our vet visit was to get Jessa, Eve and Suri their rabies vaccines and checked for possible denials on our next...

In addition to adding two new girls to our program, we have also decided to keep Jessa here with us a bit longer to help her build more self confidence and hopefully get her into the show ring! Structurally, she is VERY nice. We just need to help her realize just how wonderful she is. We will be sure to share her progress as we prepare her for the ring.

Colada’s puppies turned 6 weeks old today and boy have they blossomed! Adventurous and playful, they are truly enjoying their socialization and play-sessions. Romping and wrestling with our other dogs, learning the way of family life and exploring the house. This litter has shown extreme intelligence as they are the ones that beg to get back into the pen to potty and for nibbles on kibble. Today, they alerted me to an invader of their spot! Whining to let us know that Blue had jumped in to feast on their food. Now THAT’S smart! And while they were out playing, I couldn’t help but snap this photo of Ixtapa playing with my daughter’s hairbrush....

The puppies are five weeks old today and boy oh boy do they love life downstairs in the living room! Their play-sessions have increased this week, as they love to be out and about, exploring. We are also getting a much clearer picture of their individual personalities too. Hemingway is the laid back one of the bunch. Sweet and quiet, he will make the perfect lap buddy! Jillionaire is social, playful and happy, making a wonderful family pet. Then of course there is Ixtapa and she has shown herself to be quite the feisty little one. Sticking up for herself during her wrestling matches with her siblings and fending them off when it comes to nursing and eating. Temperament...
