Ace has been the sire to the majority of our litters lately but now that Quik is of age and blue is as ripe as they get, Ace got to take a back seat today. You guessed it! Quik is officially a man! He handled it all like a champ. This will be Blue’s last litter – We are very excited to see what our handsome and social Quik can bring to the...
Read MoreAs the puppies turn eight weeks old today, there has been an interesting “changing of the guards”. Blue is smack dab in the middle of her ripest part of her heat – Hormones a plenty! Colada has been nursing these three puppies for eight straight weeks, sharp puppy teeth and all. Starting this past weekend, Colada has all but given up on allowing them to nurse while Blue actually jumps into the pen to “nurse” them. No! She doesn’t have any milk! But they still chomp down. Man, that’s gotta...
Read MoreHe looks so sweet sleeping there doesn’t he? He laid down beside the door we have separating the kitchen from the living room. If you follow our blog, you know what this means! Blue has officially gone into heat. Huggie alerted us to the fact by spending a LOT of time napping with and grooming her over the last couple days. It went from being her shadow to heightened attention and a high pitched whine. Needless to say, the boys and girls we separated and he has been laying just outside of the room that she is now in ever...
Read MoreColada’s puppies turned 6 weeks old today and boy have they blossomed! Adventurous and playful, they are truly enjoying their socialization and play-sessions. Romping and wrestling with our other dogs, learning the way of family life and exploring the house. This litter has shown extreme intelligence as they are the ones that beg to get back into the pen to potty and for nibbles on kibble. Today, they alerted me to an invader of their spot! Whining to let us know that Blue had jumped in to feast on their food. Now THAT’S smart! And while they were out playing, I couldn’t help but snap this photo of Ixtapa playing with my daughter’s hairbrush....
Read MoreThe heat season can bring many things. The whining and marking of males, the anticipation of new litters, the need to separate of dogs and in some cases, the heat of other females in the house. Cycles can get thrown into a tizzy, all to compete with the other viable girls in the house. In our case, I have mentioned the possibility of Blue getting thrown into her heat and that thought has only been intensified by the interest she is being shown by all of the males in our house – Adults and puppies alike (Yes, Gator and Quik have taken notice and shown their honey ways) Today, I happened to catch Ginny spending a lot more time self grooming. Her current pups are...
Read MoreSo today was suppose to be my cleaning day. I started by picking up all of the items off the family room floor and then that’s when everything changed. The holiday season had me pulled into a million and one different directions and I totally forgot about the doggy beds I had put up onto the back of the couch. Clearly, the dogs didn’t though! Eight hours later, I was reminded as I looked over and saw the dogs up and in the beds even though they were not where they were suppose to be. They are THEIR beds, they were gonna use...
Read MoreOur Hotel KZ guests are back home and our happy campers are cuddling with our spoiled spa princesses. Why you may ask that I described the girls that stayed at Karen’s this way?Because of THIS! Karen said Blue sat patiently for an entire pedicure. That included clipping and filing of the nails and then a coat or two of hot pink polish! How adorable is that?!?!? And while Blue shows off her purty paws off to everyone, I get to wash loads of camping as well as puppy litter laundry. It’s a good thing I don’t get pampered like that – my nails couldn’t withstand the work I have ahead of...
Read MoreMontana and Kim have been wanting to add a little one to their family and originally we spoke about a younger puppy. When families contact me about bringing home one of our pups, my main goal is to match temperament with lifestyle. As much as a photo is a nice way to SEE what a puppy looks like, my blog is a often times a better way to really read what the pup is like – appearance aside. These two obviously see the importance of the day-to-day ramblings I add and switched gears, asking me for more information on our sweet Frisco – The special boy who would take a day or so to ever show the real him to a stranger – He would also take a family who had...
Read MoreBlue has reached her fertile-myrtle day and she has the boys actually howling to get to her! We are not breeding her this season so she has had no access to any males. We can hear the boy’s pain - They loose weight, are much more anxious and whine every chance they get when we have a girl in heat in the house. But when Blue was in the kitchen with the pups and we began to hear HER whining, I had to take a peek at what all of the commotion was about. Once she figured out that little, 6 week old Gater is a BOY, she nudged him with her nose and propped her behind out for him to have his way with her. She don’t care WHERE she gets it from – She just...
