Horrible Pic – Monumental Moment

Jesse has come so unbelievably far with her socialization – Something we are extremely proud of. We have gotten her comfortable in our home and with our family. The next step is to continue her socialization outside of the house. I just know she is going to do great! I snapped this photo to capture just how far she has come. Her grandfather is Goody, and just like both Sugar and Huggie, who are Goody’s pups, Jessa does the Goody Dance to show her happiness. Soooo...

Slow Coat

Both Quik and Maui are long coat Chihuahuas. Apparently, they inherited their mom’s slow coat growth gene because I am not seeing the lush length I like. It’s coming in – They have the fringe on their ears on on their back ends. Quik’s coat is actually a bit longer than his sister’s. I am going to assume they will be long and luxurious in the two year range. Until then, we wait!...

Too Interesting To Not Share

So now that Buddy has been snipped, my ripe and heat alerter has been “turned off”. Buddy always alerted us to who was coming into heat before the first blood spots appeared. We have been anticipating Ginny’s heat but he hasn’t budged a bit. Perhaps because Ace is her son, he hasn’t whined either. Of course, he usually whines on the ripest of days, but still, no sniffs or extra attention? Today we finally witnessed a couple drops, realizing she was just in the beginnings of her heat, we didn’t immediately separate her from the rest. That’s when something VERY interesting happened… She started chasing after and flirting...

The Sugar Dance

The day that Sugar came home with me, I visited for a little bit with her daddy, Goody. Outside of his amazing good looks and structure, there is one trait that stood out immediately. It was the fancy dance that he performed when he was excited. Standing up on his hind legs, waving his front in the air and giddy with joy. This is exactly how I am greeted by Sugar every morning and every time I walk into the room. Funny thing about genetics – We pray for structure and bites and heads and temperaments. I will mark with genetic trait as a total bonus because it is totally...

Gator’s Grandma

Gator’s Grandma

Way back when Ace was just a couple months older than his son Gator, he went to stay with a very close friend of ours and her family. She fell hard for Ace’s sweet face and even sweeter demeanor. He stayed with her until he was about a year old – When he was ready to start breeding. Of course, since then, we have had many black and white, long coat Chihuahua pups but not until now have we had an Ace puppy with the same colors. When Gator was about 3 weeks old, she was over for a visit and without me even saying a word, she squealed, “Oh My Goodness! This is Ace’s baby isn’t it?” A “Grandma” knows I tell you! She is here a...
